SIMULATION OF THE OSCILLATORY BEHAVIOR OF BUSES EQUIPPED WITH A CLASSIC AND ACTIVE SUSPENSION SYSTEM

The oscillatory behavior of buses equipped with a classic and active suspension system is analyzed in this paper. The simulation was carried out on a quarter model with two degrees of freedom. This behavior of buses is rated based on two responses to the excitation signal - sinusoidal half-wave: dynamic deformation of the bus suspension system and of the tire. The recognition of the values of elastic suspension system deformation is important for the determination of necessary space for the wheel travel and system components placement. The tire deformation indicates the change of the vertical force in contact with the road. Active suspension system driven by a PID (Proportional-Integral-Differential) regulator is analyzed. The simulation is made using Mathlab and Simulink software. The results confirm the advantage of active suspension system.
