This paper is concerned in brief with the state-of-the-art of gaseous fuel combustion technics regarding environmental protection, efficiency and stability of combustion devices. Following this concept, limitations and requirements of performances of combustion devices are explained in detail. Particularly, low emissions techniques of nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide, the main pollutants during combustion of gaseous fuels, are analyzed. Thereafter, gas combustion techniques and burners are classified and influential parameters on emissions and flame stability are given. The effects of trends to using renewable energy sources and low quality classical gaseous fuels are analyzed, too. In addition, the paper tackles numerical research in combustion.
